“Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you” ―Dr.Seuss

May 5, 2014, winners for the early screening was announced and my prayers were answered! I received an email telling I won 2 tickets for The Fault in Our Stars early screening on May 12. I was really happy and excited that everything was already being planned. From my nail art to my #ootd to my plus one. I wanted to bring a friend but because of the time and venue, my dad wore his ‘super protective papa suit’ and won’t allow me unless I bring my sister who lives in Makati. She, too, had already read the book and a fan too. Well, it was better than someone who haven’t read the book yet (cos I have no one to share my fangirl feels with!)
Nail art idea was from random Instagram users (credits to them). I’ve always wanted to wear something very Hazel Grace (planned since I entered the contest) for the screening and her Travel to Amsterdam Outfit is what I can collect from my closet.
Summer highlight, indeed! Everything went so perfect that night. My sister and I met and went straight to Greenbelt 3, Cinema 5. Outside the cinema is a big board where we can share our favorite TFiOS quoatation. I love what Peter Van Houten said “some infinities are bigger than other infinities” because it makes so much sense! The photobooth man then took our photo and we fell in line.
Two trailers were shown before the movie started: The Maze Runner and If I Stay. Both received squeals from the fangirls because those, too, are movies adapted from books. After the trailers, everyone squealed again as Ed Sheeran gave his greetings for us. John Green appeared next and everyone freaked out especially when he said “Filipino Nerdfighters”. Shansel (Shailene Woodley & Ansel Elgort) gave their messages after. Ansel looked so freakin good, oh my god!!
The movie itself was so perfect! It was so close to the book that it made justice. Some hate that movies change the story or the sequence of its book but this one is as perfect as the book. There might be little changes and deleted parts, but still, everything fell perfect. To Ansel and Shai, they were perfect for their roles. You can totally see Gus and Hazel to them. It is like watching your favorite fictional characters come to life. It is just that Gus didn’t look like he was dying at all (spoiler alert)! 8 days before his death, and still, he looked so good! But, nevertheless, they gave justice to Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster. The soundtrack is so good, too! They were perfect with the scenes they are playing with. It sound really good! We were so happy to be one of the first people to watch The Fault in Our Stars. It was a great honor to watch it a month earlier and I cannot wait to feel the feels and watch it again!
The Fault in Our Stars in Philippine cinemas on June 5
Congratulations to John Green, Josh Boone and all the casts and crew for creating an exceptional story and movie!
